This year’s draft is arguably the most important one in recent history for the New York Giants.
The Giants have the 6th pick, which gives them many options on how they want to begin the franchise’s future.

In this blog, we will cover five things the Giants must do in this draft to succeed over the next few years.

1) Find the Next Offensive Weapon

After losing a player like Saquon Barkley, the Giants are missing an offensive weapon that can change a game. There are many ways that the Giants can improve on this. One way would be to select a wide receiver like Malik Nabers. Not only would getting a wide receiver change the whole dynamic of the offense, but it would also show us how Daniel Jones would operate with a true number-one wide receiver.

Another way the Giants can acquire an offensive weapon is by drafting a running back later in the draft to fill the void left by losing Saquon.

2) Figure Out the QB Situation

The Giants can do several things with the 6th pick, including selecting a quarterback. If the Giants don’t use the 6th pick, it would also be nice to have a plan for what they want to do at quarterback. They also have the option to draft a quarterback like Michael Penix late, and that would give the team a plan for the future.

Another option is to play the season out with Daniel Jones and come into next season with the plan of finding a new quarterback for the team.

3) Upgrade the Trenches

As fans saw last year, the offensive line was the biggest problem for this team. Daniel Jones was virtually unable to pass the ball against teams that had a semi-decent offensive line.

So, it is a focal point that the Giants do something about the offensive line; otherwise, we will continue to have a bottom-tier offense.

4) Upgrade the Secondary

Although Deonte Banks had a good rookie season, losing Xavier McKinney, the secondary is severely lacking talent. They will need to upgrade through the draft in order to have any success in the near future.

Every season, there are a few late-round secondary pieces that end up being good, and if the Giants can hit on that pick, it would set this defense up nicely for the future.

5) Give Giants fans hope

After losing Saquon, a lot of Giants fans are lost for this upcoming season. A lot of them have lost hope that we can win in the near future and aren’t going down a deep rebuilding process, but the only way to give fans hope is to nail this draft, and we’ll see if they will be able to do it.

Giants fans have been through a lot in the past 10 years, and completely nailing a draft would help change the fortune of the team for many years to come.
