The 2024 NFL Draft is fast approaching, with the NFL Combine set to begin on Monday in Indianapolis.

With the first round of the draft being a little over two months away, Giants General Manager Joe Schoen has a big decision to make at the 6th overall pick, the same pick Dave Gettleman used on Daniel Jones in 2019.

It’s that time of year when many fans are acting as General Managers of their favorite teams, running their own Mock Drafts.

I’ve explored three players that Joe Schoen could choose to take with the Giants’ 1st Round pick.

1) QB Jayden Daniels // LSU

There are many Giants fans who believe Quarterback Daniel Jones’s time is up at MetLife after another losing season. Some of these fans will be hoping the Giants spend their 6th overall pick on LSU Quarterback Jayden Daniels.

The impressive talent led the Tigers to a 9-3 record, throwing for 3,812 yards, 40 touchdowns, and just 4 interceptions. This was enough for Daniels to win the 2023 Heisman trophy ahead of Caleb Williams, Marvin Harrison, and Drake Maye.

There is no guarantee, however, that the former Arizona State QB will still be available at 6, with the first three picks potentially all being Quarterbacks. This means USC QB Caleb Williams, North Carolina QB Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels could all go by pick 4.

Therefore, the Giants might choose to be aggressive and trade up a couple of spots if Schoen and Daboll want their guy. This comes after NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah reported that Joe Schoen trading up for a QB is ‘very much in play.’

2) WR Malik Nabers // LSU

Next up is Jayden Daniels’ go-to target at LSU, Malik Nabers. The talented wide receiver is a real option for Joe Schoen, with the Giants in need of a star receiver.

In the season just gone, Nabers recorded 89 catches for 1,569 yards, 14 of which were touchdowns. After this inspiring 2023 season, he made First-Team All-SEC and Unanimous All-American and is a top-10 prospect in the draft.

Alongside Marvin Harrison Jr and Rome Odunze, Malik Nabers is projected to be a top-three wide-receiver prospect in this draft.  The LA Chargers are also interested in Nabers, who pick one spot before the Giants at five.

The Giants have not had a star WR since former LSU Tiger Odell Beckham Jr, who they have struggled to replace. Malik Nabers could be the one to fill these boots, giving Daniel Jones (or another Quarterback) a top offensive weapon.

3) OT Olumiywa Fashanu // Penn State

The Giants have struggled with their O-Line for many years, and Fashanu could be crucial in solving this problem.

The Penn State Left-Tackle would make a lot of sense for the Giants, with Fashanu making Consensus All-American in 2023. Fashanu played predominantly at Left Tackle for Penn-State, not allowing a single sack in over 680 snaps for the Nittany Lions.

If the Giants are to draft Fashanu with the 6th pick, he will be expected to move over to Right Tackle. However, this is not likely to be an issue, as it’s believed he possesses the attributes to make the transition.

Former Second-Team All-Pro Left-Tackle Andrew Thomas is one of the few big hits in recent years, with Nate Solder, Ereck Flowers, and now Evan Neal among the recruits who have not worked out. If the Giants draft Fashanu, all hope will not be lost for Neal, who could move inside to Right Guard.
