Who Makes the Cut if the NY Giants Have MT. Rushmore?

It’s no secret that the New York Giants are among the most successful teams in NFL history.

They’ve earned their spot among the all-time greats. They have four Super Bowl wins and seven NFL championships.

But what about Mt. Rushmore? Who makes it on?

If you’re a New York Giants fan, you’ve probably thought about this question at least once.

It’s one of those things that everyone gets into arguments about: Who makes the cut? If it were up to us, we’d go with these five players.

Eli Manning

Plain and simple: Eli Manning is the GOAT when it comes to quarterbacks for the Giants. He’s their all-time leader in passing yards, touchdowns, and QB rating. And that’s not even close to being an exhaustive list of his accomplishments!

To put it simply: The Giants wouldn’t be where they are without him. Manning holds many records for quarterbacks. This includes the most career passing yards (55,003) and touchdown passes (329). Don’t forget his completions (4,818), attempts (7,339), and games played (224).

Osi Umenyiora

Osi Umenyiora has been around since 2004. And he is still going strong as a defensive end for the team. He racked up 40 sacks during his career with the Giants.

This is good enough for second place all-time on the team’s sack list (behind Michael Strahan). He was a great pass rusher. And he was also a capable run-stopper who could play anywhere across the defensive line.

Lawrence Taylor

He is one of the best linebackers in NFL history and one of the greatest defensive players in history. He was named NFL MVP twice and helped lead his team to two Super Bowl victories. He was also named All-Pro six times and was selected to 11 Pro Bowls in his 13-year career with the Giants.

The New York Giants drafted him with the second overall pick in the 1981 NFL Draft. In his first season with the team, he set a record for most sacks by a rookie. He got 14½ sacks and earned Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. He continued to play for the Giants. In 1993, he signed with another team: The Washington Redskins.

Michael Strahan

He has played in six Pro Bowls and won two Super Bowls with the Giants. Plus, he was an All-Pro five times. He is also known as one of the best defensive ends ever to play in the NFL.

He holds more records than any player in team history (142), including the most sacks ever by a Giant (22). He’s also tied for most sacks in a game with five. This is against John Elway and the Broncos.

Frank Gifford

Gifford had a wonderful career with the New York Giants. He won two MVP awards (1956 and 1963). What’s more? He made eight Pro Bowls (1955–1961) and appeared on five championship teams (1956–1962). He led his team to three league championships (1956–1957). He also played in one Super Bowl (XI) and got to the NFL’s 75th Anniversary Team in 1994.

Gifford is one of only two players inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame. He won two NFL championships with the Giants and became an NFL MVP twice during his career.
