The US Men’s National Team will be back in the World Cup this year after failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The US Men drew Group B for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which includes England, Wales, and Iran.
The expectation of this group will be to get out of the Group Stage.
Any wins in the knockout stage will be exceeding expectations.
Aaron Long, the New York Red Bulls central defender, has been named to the US Men’s roster and could be an important part of the team if he pairs with Nashville’s Walker Zimmerman at central defender.
Sean Johnson, the NYFC’s starting goalkeeper, was also named to the squad, but he’s not expected to start.
Below I will look at the futures odds for the US Men’s National Team in Group B, as well as to win the entire World Cup tournament.
If you’re betting from New York City, you should be able to find similar odds (but possibly not exactly the same) to the ones outlined below.
Group B Winner Odds
- England -260
- USA +475
- Wales +550
- Iran +1800
England is the favorite to win Group B. The USMNT is the second favorite, and with only a quick three-game round-robin in the group stage, it’s not that unlikely that England drops a point here or there, and USA or Wales ends up atop the group.
Group B To Qualify Odds
- England -1500
- USA -105
- Wales +115
- Iran +350
It’s not finishing on top of the group that matters in this tournament. The top two finishers in Group B will advance to the knockout stage, so the USA will be focused on finishing in one of those two positions. The USA opens their tournament against Wales, and as you can see from the odds above, that will be an important game that could play a huge role in determining which of those teams advance.
England is expected to advance. Even if they drop a point here or there, it’s unlikely that they would finish in the bottom half of this group. That leaves one more spot between the USA, Wales, and Iran.
World Cup Winner Odds
- Brazil +400
- Argentina +575
- France +700
- England +850
- Spain +875
- Germany +1100
- Netherlands +1400
- Portugal +1600
- Belgium +1600
- Denmark +3000
- Uruguay +5000
- Croatia +5500
- Serbia +9000
- Senegal +10000
The United States has odds of 100-1 to win the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Those odds put them alongside Senegal as the 14th favorite heading into the tournament.
Brazil is the favorite with odds of 4-1, and it would be a major surprise if one of the top 9 nations did not win this tournament.
