Let me preface this blog with a statement:

I am a Daniel Jones Believer.

If you have read my blogs before, then you probably already know this.  So everything I write from here on out is coming from someone who wants to see Daniel Jones start in 2022.  Let me preface the rest of this blog with another statement:

I don’t think that the Giants are going to draft a QB in the 1st round.

So this blog may not even end up mattering, but that’s not the point.  The Giants have holes all over the team, and to at least half the fan base, Quarterback is one of them.  Now, much of the fan base also probably doesn’t believe in the top quarterbacks in this year’s draft.  But with some of the top QB’s in this year’s draft like Kenny Pickett and Malik Willis going through their pro days, the inevitable hype that comes with 1st round QBs has started.  Let’s just put aside the talent of the QB class and if you as a fan actually believe in them for a second. What matters, is if the Giants, believe in them.  If the Giants do believe in one of these quarterbacks in this draft, and they’re not sold on Danny Dimes, then no one can be upset about them drafting one.

Daniel Jones has had a subpar career at best to this point.  To me, much of this has to do with the fact that he had probably the worst offensive coordinator in the league for 2 of his 3 years in the league, and the 1 year he wasn’t with that offensive coordinator, he showed major potential.  BUT he also was considered by many to be a reach when we drafted him, has thrown a combined 21 touchdown passes the past 2 years, has turned the ball over in more games than he hasn’t, and he has missed 10 games due to injury in his young career. With all this working against him, even the biggest Daniel Jones supporters can’t possibly be upset if the Giants look for a new quarterback in the draft.

Is Daniel Jones’s struggles all his fault?  Depends on who you ask.  But there’s a new regime in town, so if they want to bring in a new guy, then so be it.

I believe in Daniel Jones, but he hasn’t earned the right to prevent the Giants from drafting his replacement.
