The NHL season is just around the corner, with the preseason beginning in two weeks.
The first preseason game for the Rangers is on the 26th of September.
The New York Rangers announced they signed defenseman Libor Hajek to a one-year two-way contract. Hajek has played with the Rangers for three years now.
Hajek is 23 years old; he stands at 6’2 and weighs around 200 lbs, with good size for his position.
The three years Hajek has spent in the NHL has been with the Rangers. He has played a total of 77 games in his career. In those 77 games, Hajek has scored three goals and has seven assists. This past season, Hajek scored two goals and made two assists.
It shows that Hajek has not been this star player but still is present on the ice. The Rangers acquired him through a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning. That was back in 2018, and since then, there haven’t been many expectations from Hajek.
The Rangers have better defensemen on the team.
Hajek has moved to different pairings throughout his time on the team. He was paired with Brendan Smith, Adam Fox, and K’Andre Miller, to name a few. There has yet to be a good partner for him to have.
The Rangers signing Hajek to a one-year contract shows that they want to trust the process with him. The team wouldn’t have signed him if they didn’t think they’d have a solution.
Hopefully, we can see a difference in play this season from Hajek.
The Rangers have made plenty of changes this year, and it could affect the team, hopefully in a positive way.
The team might play differently, and we could see a change in Hajek, possibly from the new coaching staff.
