The Yankees had a multitude of injuries hit them before the, initial, regular season even started.

They lost Aaron Judge to a fractured rib, James Paxton had surgery on his back, Aaron Hicks was recovering from Tommy John surgery, Gary Sanchez had back tightness, Giancarlo Stanton had a Grade 1 calf strain, and Luis Severino had Tommy John surgery.

On June 30th, Brian Cashman gave us some injury updates that will give all Yankees fans some happiness.

It looks like Stanton will be ready to hit come Opening Day, but not as ready to play the field, so he will most likely be the designated hitter.

Paxton looks ready to pitch, and Hicks could be ready by Opening Day.

As for Aaron Judge, Cashman is optimistic that he will be ready for Opening Day.

Although not many good things came of this break from baseball due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it gave the injured Yankees time to recover from their injuries.

The only Yankee that will 100% not come back for 2020 baseball is Luis Severino, as his Tommy John surgery was done just this February.

With everyone but Severino hopefully coming back from their injuries this season, a potential lineup could look something like this.

  1. LeMahieu 2B
  2. Judge RF
  3. Torres SS
  4. Stanton DH
  5. Hicks CF
  6. Sanchez C
  7. Andujar/Urshela 3B
  8. Voit 1B
  9. Gardner LF

Of course, that may not be what it would look like, and there may be a case where someone gets hurt before the season or players like Mike Ford and Mike Tauchman step up and take the first base and left field spots for themselves.

As for the rotation, that looks much clearer than what the lineup may be.

  1. Cole
  2. Paxton
  3. Tanaka
  4. Happ
  5. Montgomery

Deivi Garcia could take the fifth spot, but that is not very likely.

Hopefully, everyone continues to stay healthy, and hopefully, the Yankees will be stronger than ever going into the 60 game season.
