For years there have been rumors on defenseman Jacob Trouba wanting to sign with the New York Rangers. It seems almost perfect that the Rangers announced this signing right in the middle of their exciting rebuild.

With the NHL Draft this Friday and the Rangers having the second overall pick, this new signing has fans even more excited than they already were.

Jacob Trouba was acquired by the Rangers this past Monday in exchange for defenseman Neal Pionk and the 20th pick in the draft, which we had received when we traded forward Kevin Hayes.

Jacob Trouba is a 25-year-old defenseman from Michigan and has played with the Winnipeg Jets. He was the ninth overall draft pick in 2012. Trouba stands tall at 6’3 and weighs a little over 200 lbs. A big, strong defense is exactly what this team needs. Trouba has played in 408 games in his career. He has a career total of 42  goals and 137 assists. This past season Trouba put up 8 goals with 42 assists. He has experience in the playoffs, making it three years. In the playoffs, Trouba has a career total of 2 goals and 4 assists. He’s also played for Team USA and Team North America.

Jacob Trouba is a smart defenseman. He’s a smooth, but fast skater and knows how to move the puck. He is known to have a hard, heavy shot and also for his physical play. Trouba is the type of defense that can get the job done on power plays, penalties, and even strength.

This is a huge and exciting move for the New York Rangers. With the draft coming up, this team will be doing a lot over the summer and fans should be excited to see how the team comes out.
