As January comes to a close, the Knicks sit at a 10-40 record, their worst 50-game mark…ever. They have lost eleven straight games. Somehow, there are still intriguing storylines circulating the New York franchise.

Before the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 7, Anthony Davis’ agent let the basketball world know that the 6’10, top-5 basketball player wants “a team that allows him the chance to win consistently and compete for a championship.” Davis was fined by Adam Silver for his comments, according to the Washington Post.

However, the $50,000 fine may be worth it to Davis if he ends up in Los Angeles Lakers purple and gold.

It appears Davis wants to play for LeBron and the Lakers, especially if you want to read into the fact that Davis and LeBron sat down for dinner a month ago per NBC Los Angeles.

If Davis is not traded to the Lakers, he could also end up with the Knicks. The Knicks need to be careful to not give up too much for Anthony Davis.

Knicks fans should at least feel uncomfortable to hear the Knicks 1st round pick attached to Davis.

Davis is a restricted free agent this summer and if he ends up on the Knicks via trade, all the Knicks need to do is offer him a max contract and Davis will have to sign as long as the Knicks match any other sheet.

Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant are free agents this summer and the Knicks may be eying them as well.

There is no way the Knicks head into the 2019-20 with Kyrie, AD, KD and the first round pick in the starting line up. Knicks can be bold and shoot for two of those four players to be on their roster.

If the Knicks HAVE to have AD, they should submit the first round pick and Kevin Knox.

After trading Kristaps Porzingis, the Knicks need Anthony Davis to make New York an attractive situation for free agents. Also, they can part with a first round pick because they received two from the KP trade.

If the Knicks do have room fro two max free agent contracts this summer, trading for Anthony Davis is a very viable and smart decision. The question is which free agent can they pair with Anthony Davis?

It will be very nerve wracking to see how this all plays out.
