Saquon Barkley was the 2nd pick in the 2018 draft and has 1016 scrimmage yards and 7 touchdowns in 8 games, but the Giants are still 1-7. Saquon is the favorite as of now to win ROTY. With the Giants almost eliminated from playoff contention the question we all have is if we drafted Darnold, Rosen, or Allen are we not 1-7 right now? The Jets are 3-6, the Bills are 2-7, and Cardinals are 2-6. All 3 of these quarterbacks have been inconsistent in the first half of their rookie seasons, but these quarterbacks don’t have Saquon Barkley and OBJ to work with.

Saquon Barkley is a generational talent, which was very hard for Gettelman to pass up on. Saquon dominated in college for Penn State and did fantastic in the NFL combine. Saquon has broken tackles and ran through defensives in his first 8 games. The Giants will end up with a top 5 pick this year most likely. If Justin Herbert declares then the Giants will most likely select him if he his on the board. Gettleman and Abrams were at his game last night against Utah and have been following him throughout the season. Although drafting Herbert would make the Giants better, they would still need an Offensive line.

Before this season, Gettleman was in win now mode and thought that Eli could lead us to a Super Bowl. This season has shown us that Eli is washed and that the Giants are ready to go into rebuild mode. The drafting Saquon Barkley they have made a great base to build around to make this team a playoff contender in the next couple of years.

All of this information leads us to realize that regardless who the Giants drafted in the 2018 draft they would still be in the bottom half of the league. They have too many holes that have to be fixed. This makes me think that Saquon was the correct pick in the 2018 draft.

What do you think? Do you think the Giants should have drafted a QB or an O-linemen with the second overall pick?
