Yankees Looking to Trade for DH
During a conference call to discuss the Michael Pineda trade, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman spoke briefly about the opening at designated hitter and the possibility of trading AJ Burnett. Cashman said the free agent market for a DH would be his ‘secondary’ focus in trying to fill the vacancy. Rather, he will “first and foremost” look at the trade market to fill the vancancy.
“Maybe I use our excess pitching to find a bat,” Cashman said. “That’s a possibility.”
According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com hears the Burnett trade market is non-existent, even to the point of using a “pie in the sky” hashtag to describe the Yankees’ chances of moving the veteran right-hander.
The excess would be AJ Burnett, however, he has no trade value at the moment.
